My New Top Ten RiffTrax B-Movie Releases

Last August, I compiled a top ten list of my favorite RiffTrax VoD releases.  I had a pretty solid list at that time, too.  Since making that list, however, they have released sixteen new movies and I knew I had to update my list.

This was not an easy venture.  You know those scenes in movies and TV shows where there is a group of people trying to come up with an idea or a verdict in a murder trial, and they are just arguing the whole time?  There is always one guy just sitting there, with his head resting on one or both of his hands, trying to make sense of it all.  I was that guy while working on this list.  I was also everyone else arguing with each other.  Honest to God, this list took me two and a half weeks to finalize.

I am glad I don't work under any sort of deadline.

In the end, only four of the releases from the first list have survived.  The rest are all from the last nine months.

Be sure to argue my list in the comments or on Twitter.

My Top Ten RiffTrax VoD Releases

As regular readers of this site know, I am an avid fan of RiffTrax.  In fact, I enjoy watching RiffTrax videos almost more than watching anything on TV.

This time of year is great for us RiffTrax fans, because we are right in the middle of the RiffTrax Live season.  The live riff of Sharknado was outstanding, and I am really anticipating upcoming Godzilla '98, Anaconda, and unannounced Christmas Riff (rumored to be Santa & The Ice Cream Bunny).  Couple that with the barrage of VoDs and Shorts that RiffTrax has been releasing, and you have before you a happy man (with a sad wallet).

Because of this near euphoric state I find myself in, and with some of the recent VoDs that have been absolutely bonkers, I decided it was time to make an updated list of my top favorite VoD releases.

Now, I have done some lists before of RiffTrax VoD essentials, but those have all been movies that I think every RiffTrax fan should see.  They were not necessarily in my top ten.

CSM '12: Santa's Village of Madness

It's December, and only two days until Christmas! I've decided to do a follow up to my surprisingly popular Halloween Movie Madness. Every night through Christmas Eve, I will be watching a different Christmas movie or special and then rambling on about them, sometimes even being coherent!

Okay people. Forget everything you have seen so far. Forget Santa Claus. Forget Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny. This selection of shorts recently released by RiffTrax takes insane Christmas movies to not only a new level, but a new universe full of yet unexplored levels.

CSM '12: Santa Claus The Movie

It's December, and almost Christmas! Therefore, I've decided to do a follow up to my surprisingly popular Halloween Movie Madness! Every night through Christmas Eve, I will be watching a different Christmas movie or special and then rambling on about them, sometimes even being coherent!

For the second night in a row, I watched a movie titled Santa Claus. Technically, this one is titled Santa Claus The Movie. This movie was released in 1985, when I was seven years old. I remember seeing it in the theater. This movie brings back so many memories for me, even though I didn't remember much about the movie itself.

It's time once again for an insane entry in Christmas Special Mania!  This time, it's Santa Claus, a Mexican movie from 1959.  And just like Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny, it is best when watched with our favorite film riffers mocking it.  This movie was used in Mystery Science Theater 3000, with Mike and the Bots helping us to get through it with the help of laughter.

Will Ferrell is one of those actors that you either love or hate.  Even if you don't like Will Ferrell, however, you might still enjoy Elf.  My wife didn't like Will Ferrell until she watched (and subsequently loved) Elf.

When it comes to specials about Santa, this one is at the top of the list.  Santa Claus is Coming to Town is the Year One of Santa.  It's the back story of everyone's favorite jolly elf.

Well, lookie here.  Five days into this thing, and I'm just now getting to the first actual special.  This is one of the best Christmas specials out there.  I have also seen this special about one hundred times, and that's just since last Christmas.

Today's movie is a special one.  And by special, I mean "special".  Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny is one of those movies that you watch the same way you would a fifteen car accident on the highway.

Tonight's movie, The Santa Clause, has fast become one that we watch a few times every holiday season in our family.  There are a total of three movies in this series, but the other two are not quite as good as this first one.  Regardless, let's focus on the movie at hand.  So, let's talk about what happens when the Tool Man becomes Santa.
