This year's playlist brings us a monster, a barber with psychotronic powers, and hardpack. These riffs clock in just shy of four and a half hours, so they will last you well past handing out candy to trick-or-treaters.

HMM Special: The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein
Today, I am interrupting the regular Halloween Movie Madness schedule for a special Halloween Musical Madness. Sorry about that. Things will resume normally tomorrow.
Last night, Pit & Balcony, our local theatre, opened it's 82nd season. They did so in a spectacular fashion with The New Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein, and I was lucky enough to have been graced with a pair of tickets to the opening performance last night.
Now, aside from the school plays I was in or had gone to see my little brother in, my experience in going to the theatre was nill. That, in and of itself, was enough to make me excited about going. Just the idea of having this kind of a night out with my wife was wonderful. The fact that it was to see a musical version of Young Frankenstein, one of the best comedies ever put to film, was just the icing on the cake.

Halloween Movie Madness '13: Q: The Winged Serpent
It's October! The doorway to not only the start of the greatest food
season (early October to Christmas), but also to sexy nurses, zombies,
and grown men dressing up like ponies. That also means it is time once
again for Halloween Movie Madness! This year, I'll be taking a
look back at the movies of my youth. Every movie this year was released
before I turned eighteen. These are the Halloween movies that shaped
me into the man I am today. Some of them are scary. Some are funny.
Some are fantastical. Some are just weird. And not all of them are
good. But to me, they are all Halloween movies. Now, stand back, for
your own safety!
Q: The Winged Serpent
1982
A giant monster movie based on the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl, starring Kwai Chang Caine, Shaft, and Assistant District Attorney Benjamin Stone. The movie tagline is "It's name is Quetzalcoatl... just call it Q, that's all you'll have time to say before it tears you apart!" Sounds awesome, doesn't it?

Practice Killing Beasts in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Demo
The demo for the much anticipated Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is now here! As of right now, you can check out some sweet single player monster killing action on the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS.
I'm glad this came out today, because the wait for this game is harrowing. At least we can all get a taste of the action before the game's March 19 release!
You can read the release after the jump.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Fighting on the Wii U and 3DS March 19
Monster Hunter fans rejoice, for Capcom has revealed to us a release date. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will fins its way to store shelves and the eShop on March 19 here in North America. That is for both the Wii U and the 3DS. If you live in the UK, you only have to wait three extra days.
And if you've never played a Monster Hunter game, and you want to see what all of the fuss is about (or you just need your fix a little earlier), a demo for the game on both systems will be available to download on February 21.
Check out the new trailer after the jump.

HMM '12 Day 9: Big Trouble in Little China
It's finally October! That means two very important things: Pumpkin Pie Pop-Tarts are here, and Halloween is near! My favorite thing to do in October to prepare myself for Halloween is to, of course, watch movies that I feel best exemplify the season. Now, this doesn't just mean extreme gore fests (of course, I do love me some gore), but I like to include movies that have that Halloween feel. Anyway, let's get to Day 9 of Halloween Movie Madness 2012!
Big Trouble in Little China
(20th Century Fox, 1986)
Tonight's movie, Big Trouble in Little China, is one of my all-time favorites. There are just so many things about this movie that make it great. This is also one of the most quotable movies out there.

HMM '12 Day 5: Slither

Slither
(Universal Studios, 2006)
Last night's movie was Slither, a great throwback to the horror movies of the 80's. You know when a movie starts off with an asteroid hurtling through space at Earth, things are going to be fun. And fun is this movie’s middle name. Well, maybe that should be last name... if it was the movie’s middle name, it would be Slifunther. Of course, if it were the movie’s last name... you know what, nevermind. I’m just getting sidetracked.

Animated Gifs And MIDI Files, Oh My!
Yes! Look at the beautiful Halloween-themed layout! I know it's cheesy, but that was the point. Finding the little background image and making the blog have Halloween-ish colors had the fortunate side effect of putting me in the mood for something else old and cheesy...
Yes, old school animated gifs!

Halloween Movie Madness 2012 is Coming
With Halloween fast approaching, I have been preparing a little movie marathon. I call this little treat Halloween Movie Madness. I watch a movie that I feel is appropriate for the time of year, and then you get to read my ramblings about it. This is supposed to go every day for the month of October, but I might extend it by either starting it early or running later. It just depends on how many movies I want to watch. I even have a cheesy logo I made for it. Check it:
If that doesn't say AWESOME IS COMING, I don't know what will.
