Review: Pop-Tarts Gone Nutty!

New Pop-Tarts: Gone Nutty Review

As the name of the site might imply, I'm a pretty big fan of things involving peanut butter.  That's why, when the new Pop-Tarts Gone Nutty! flavors were announced, I was pumped.  I was actually double pumped, because as you all know, I kinda of have a thing about Pop-Tarts.  After weeks of searching, I finally found both flavors!  Once again, it involved going into Walmart (ugh), but it netted me some of the best GMO-filled breakfast pastries ever created.
The first surprise came with the packaging itself.  When I opened the boxes, I was greeted with golden wrappers.  It was like opening a box full of sunshine, and it was a great sign of things to come.

I opened the regular Peanut Butter kind first, and took a big whiff.  Oh my goodness, dat smell!  It was like smelling a plate of peanut butter cookies!  And, as implied by the front of the box, that was what they were going for.  Pulling one out of the wrapper, I realized how soft they were.  They had that same wonderful softness and texture of a fresh batch of cookies.  They even have the sugar on top!  I knew I needed to try one warmed up, and I am so glad I did.  The mad scientists at Kellogg's nailed it.

Up next, I tried the Chocolate Peanut Butter.  These smelled like the classic peanut butter and chocolate flavor, and they did not disappoint on taste.  It was like they took some peanut butter cups, melted them down, and somehow reconfigured that into a pastry.

My second surprise came from the realization that I enjoyed the regular Peanut Butter flavor better.  I do enjoy the Chocolate Peanut Butter quite a bit, but there is really something special going on with the Peanut Butter.  Between the smell, the texture, and the taste, it is right up there in my top five Pop-Tarts flavors of all time.

And since I know you are wondering what those are, here is my current list:
  1. Pumpkin Pie
  2. Frosted Strawberry
  3. Marshmallow Hot Chocolate
  4. Peanut Butter
  5. Frosted Blueberry
If you like peanut butter things, you really need to get your hands on either of these flavors.  They are outstanding, and as the marketing campaign for these says, I really do wonder why they never thought of these before.  It seems like a no-brainer.

Now if only they would make a chocolate hazelnut flavor... (hint hint)
