Nintendo Direct Nov. 13: The Legend of Zelda Edition

Today's Nintendo Direct has just wrapped up, and we got some great announcements out of this one.

It also started out goofier than ever, with an elevator ride that was interrupted by Reggie.

You can watch the video below, or if you can't watch it right now, you can read my summary.

First up, we got some more news on The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.

Yes, they did indeed find a way to integrate Shadow Link into the game: through StreetPass.  You can set up your Link with various equipment, and then send him out through StreetPass for other players to battle in their games.  If you defeat a Shadow Link, you earn his bounty, which is determined by the aforementioned equipment.

We got some more information about some of the previously seen new characters, and a hint of a new side quest.

Yep, that's a milk bar, just like the one from Majora's Mask.  There, you will find out about a man who loves premium milk, and has recently gone missing.

Reggie also showed off the awesome Zelda 3DS XL.

We learned that Mario Party Island Tour will have single card download play, with access too all of the mini-games and game boards.

Bravely Default got a release date.  The game also uses StreetPass characters as summons in the game.

We also got a release date for the newest Professor Layton game.

The newest Nintendo Zone update was talked about a bit.  After that is when the bomb dropped.

Yes, Nintendo has been listening to us, and how we want account integration.  Slowly buy surely, it is coming.

Next month, there will be a system update for the 3DS that will allow you to use your Wii U NNID (Nintendo Network ID) to connect your eShop accounts together.

All that this will do for now will be to combine your balance from the 3DS and Wii U, but it was stated that more services will be coming to make use of this unified account.

Oh, and they also mentioned one other thing:

Yes, that is Miiverse on the 3DS.  That will be also available with next month's system update.  Now, it doesn't matter that Swapnote is gone.  We have a much better replacement.

One other thing that will be available with the update: YouTube.  With the YouTube app, you will be able to watch videos on the upper screen, while browsing videos on the lower screen.  This same functionality is coming to the Wii U YouTube app with an update.

They are updating Animal Crossing Plaza to include polls and stamps for Miiverse.  Stamps will be coming to other games to be used on their communities.

Some Pikmin 3 DLC was announced, including two free stages that are Christmas themed.

They wrapped the whole thing up with a sizzle reel for upcoming Indy games for Wii U and 3DS, and then they showed a big spoiler-filled Super Mario 3D World video.
