RiffTrax Thanksgiving Day 2018 Playlist

Thanksgiving is almost here!  After watching the parade and gorging yourself on turkey with all the fixins, you generally have three options:  Football, napping, or riffing.

I know the new season of MST3K drops on Thanksgiving, but if you stayed up all night binging it, don't have Netflix, or don't care for the reboot (it's really okay, you don't have to like it), I humbly offer up an alternative serving of RiffTrax releases you could watch instead.

Let's start things out with one of my favorite shorts!  This one will help teach your youngsters how to count to ten in one of the weirdest ways possible.

You should expect nothing less from ACI.

Our first feature of the day is this thing.  It claims to be a movie, but I have some serious doubts.

It's really just a recording of the 1965 Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade, with the most insane narrator ever, and some really weird framing about a kid falling asleep during story time.  Or something.

This is actually a great replacement for any other televised parade on Thanksgiving, unless you are hype for the Goku balloon in Macy's parade.

Time for another short!  This one is brought to you by Bridget and Mary Jo, who have carved out a great little corner of RiffTrax as their own.

If you don't know anything about turkey, this short will teach you everything you could ever hope to learn.  Like what giblets are(my son used to think they were the turkey's nards).

When I was planning this list, I turned to fellow RiffTrax super fan Dave (@SugarRayDodge).  He suggested the "ultimate deep cut."

I have to agree with that statement, because I had forgotten about this riff.  In fact, I haven't even watched this one yet.

I have brought shame to my claim of #1 RiffTrax Fan.  I refuse to relinquish that title, however!

If you need some advice on how you should behave at your family Thanksgiving dinner, this is the short for you!

And if you are confused as to who these people are, check out Playing Together.

The Wizard of Oz has become a Thanksgiving Day tradition, and while that movie was also wonderfully riffed, I decided this would be a better pick.  Why?  This was directed by the same guy who brought us Santa & The Ice Cream Bunny.

Do you even need more of a reason than that?

For our final short of the day, A Day of Thanksgiving teaches us what it truly means to be thankful, even when you can't afford a turkey.

Or if you're worried about the Deep State police.

The end of Thanksgiving is here, and that means it's time to dive head first into Christmas.  What better way to do that than with a classic Christmas film?

Well, tough crap.  You get I Believe in Santa Claus.

This is a movie about Santa rescuing a kid's parents from an African warlord.  Seriously.  I'm not kidding.  If you've never watched this riff before, you are in for a real Christmas treat!

I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving with your families, friends, and these great riffs.

And remember, don't be a Grinch this holiday season.  If you downloaded any of these riffs without paying for them, please head over to the RiffTrax Donations page and make it right.  RiffTrax is a small, independently run operation, and they work diligently to bring this level of entertainment to us all. I mean, they are the poor souls who have to sit and watch these movies over and over again without the benefit of the riffs. That is more than worth the extremely reasonable price tags on these movies.
