The Bottom Shelf: Fleischmann's Whiskey

The Bottom Shelf With Russ: Fleischmann's Whiskey

Greetings from The Bottom Shelf with Russ, where I will be reviewing all things bottom shelf.

First up: cheap whiskeys found on the bottom shelf at Meijer(ten brands in all).  With ten months of research behind this, I will be judging each whiskey one at a time.

Fleischmann's WhiskeyCheapest of the cheap was Fleischmann's Whiskey. This whiskey exemplifies "you get what you pay for".

Using a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being barely drinkable and 5 as good as it gets, this is my humble opinion.

Taste: A solid 1 - This is a wrenching gut grabber.

Cost: 4 -  If they gave it away free it would be a 5.

Packaging: 5 Yes, it actually comes in a glass bottle. This is a very good thing, because it would eat through a plastic container!

Effects:  3 - Good enough I think for the money.

Mix-ability:  Dominates what ever you mix it with. Caution: Never drink Fleischmans straight!!!

Final comments: Suitable as a house warming gift to a bum who has just got a new refrigerator box for a home.

Next time: THE Northern Lights.

Later from Bottom Shelf Russ.

Things are looking up!

  1. Tried it, couldn't finish a whisky and Coke. You'll have better luck drinking Listerine. Pay the extra quarter and get Northern Lights.

  4. Worst thing I've ever put in my mouth. Never buy any quantity. As a college student with no money I would rather be sober forever

    1. I found Fleishmann's to be pretty good. You just gotta not be a faggot about it, find yourself some cola stir er up and power through them.

  5. I've been testing bottom shelf whiskeys for a while now, so I'm sure it has prepared me for this. The first of the cheap blends I'm trying and I found it to be fine w a chaser/cokeback or alone w water and ice added. I prefer not to mix any whiskeys unless just adding ice and/or water depending on the strength I want for that particular moment. Now, I was once a whiskey snob and found many middle shelves to be disgusting. I think if I comarped it to anything decent, then yes, I would find it disgusting, but having spent so much time, going cheaper, maybe that's influenced my taste. I still prefer the straight bourbons to this, Benchmark is a good cheap one but double this price. I'd call it a good backup for when you have a party and the good stuff is finished lol. Kinda like when I was younger and would get a 12 pk of good beer and a case of cheap...

  7. I have also been somewhat of a bottom shelf whiskey connoisseur and Fleischmann's is the best bang for your buck. I fell in love with this whiskey blend and now it is all I buy. Currently, I am on a road trip across America to find a better creation, but for now it stays my go-to.

  8. This is my House whiskey at the bar I bartend at and I haven't had any complaints other than regular "I don't taste the liquor" ones lol
