Animated Gifs And MIDI Files, Oh My!

Yes! Look at the beautiful Halloween-themed layout! I know it's cheesy, but that was the point. Finding the little background image and making the blog have Halloween-ish colors had the fortunate side effect of putting me in the mood for something else old and cheesy...

Yes, old school animated gifs!

Also, MIDI files!

I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself.  Just be glad I decided not to have it autoplay.
Don't forget to smile!
Shortly after I started my search or these relics of Angelfire and Geocities, I found my way to one of the most astounding websites I have seen in years.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you NetAnimations!

Go to the site, and soak it in.  Go ahead, I'll wait.

When I first found the site, I assumed it was something that was placed online in the late '90s.  Fortunately, I was wrong.  While going through the wonder collection of gifs, I found not only a gif from The Walking Dead, but also a few cinemagraphs.  I was dumbfounded.  I couldn't believe a site like this still existed.

I think my favorite part are the descriptions of the gifs. These are the actual captions that accompany these gifs.

Classic green undead zombie dude walking
along with the zombie limp walk always
reaching for something in the air
Little animated zombie
has had a little too much juice
for one day and having
a hard time getting home

The second one kills me because there is about nine times more text then there is gif.
Little animated ghost trying it's best to
scare the stuffing out of a pumpkin
so it's not so messy to carve
into a Jack O' Lantern

Then I noticed something that ruined it a bit for me.  There are links for sound files to play while being hypnotized by the gifs.  I got really excited at this point, because the thought of someone still doing this was just astounding.

Then I clicked on one.  They were not MIDI files, but were sadly the actual songs.  That ruined the nostalgic high I was in.  Brought me crashing right back down.  That is why I embedded one in this post.  In my mind, it had to be done.

I don't want to overload the page too much here, so I will only put one more gif, but if you are too young to ever have witnessed the wonder of the internet some fifteen years ago, just picture about thirty more gifs in this post alone.

Okay, okay, one more, just to get it out of my system.

I think there might be something off with this one...
Don't forget, Halloween Movie Madness continues tomorrow!
